How to use G-Archiver

Installing the .NET Framework

1. Download and install the free trial of G-Archiver. If you've already downloaded and installed a copy of G-Archiver, visit the "Buy Now" page. You can also order a licensed copy of G-Archiver form the "Buy Now" link on the G-Archiver main menu.

2. After completing your purchase, open G-Archiver and click on the "Register" link from the main program menu.

3. On the Register Screen, you'll see two fields, one for "Username" and one for "Machine Code" - Copy and paste both your username and machine code to a file and save. You'll need this information if you want to reinstall G-Archiver in the future.

4. Click the "Request License Key" button. This will auto-generate an email message, containing your username and Machine Code. This message is addressed to register@garchiver.com. Don't change this address. Send this email message to us. If you'd like, you can also copy and paste your username and machine code from this message into any email client you wish to use to request your license key.

5. Once we receive your license key request message, we'll email you back your license key. You will receive your registration key from the following email address: register@garchiver.com
Make sure that mail from register@garchiver.com is whitelisted, otherwise you may not receive your license key.

6. After you receive your license key from us, open G-Archiver, click on the "Register" link from the main menu. Paste the license key we've sent you into the "Authentication Code" field, and press the "Verify Code" button. Your copy of G-Archiver is now registered.

G-Archiver is easy to use.

The first thing you should do is make sure that your Gmail account settings have POP enabled. You can do this by clicking on the "Settings" link at the upper right hand corner of the main Gmail page after you've logged in to Gmail.
On the Settings page, click on the "Forwarding and POP" link. Under "POP Download:" if your status is "POP Disabled", check "Enable POP for all mail". Then click the "Save Changes" button.

From the main program window, in the account details screen, enter your user name (your Gmail email address) into the user name field. In the password field enter your Gmail email account password.

You'll be prompted (Do you want to store this account information for future reference?) to store your login data. If you choose to store your login data, the user name and password fields will be hard coded into the program and you won't have to enter them again the next time you run G-Archiver. You can store multiple account's login data. To remove your login data, click the red icon next to the username field.

Click "Archive Messages"

G-Archiver will begin downloading your Gmail inbox and sent mail messages. You can halt the downloading by pressing the "Stop Archiving" at any time.

When downloading of messages has finished you can view your messages by clicking on Inbox, from the View menu. You can then view both your inbox and sent messages from the internal G-Archiver browser.

You can view your messages using any external browser by clicking the "Messages Folder" from the View menu.

You can view message attachments by clicking "Attachments Folder" from the View menu.

All messages that you archive are marked as "deleted for pop access" in your Gmail account. So now when you archive again, only new messages that have arrived since last time, will get archived. However, you can restore those old messages that got archived last time by following this: go to your settings >> Forwarding and POP >> POP Download and then select "Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)". Then press "Save changes". This way all of your messages will get "re-accessible for pop download".

Please note that after archiving a message, G-Archiver marks that message as "deleted for pop access", so that when you archive messages next time, you don't need to download messages that have already been downloaded.
